Stopping To Take A Breath

Wow, it's been a busy and stressful couple of months. My knight got his lay-off notice in November. His last day at that company was toward the end of January, and he started working a temp contract the very next day. That's when the fun started. The temp contract was a nightmare. His employer had absolutely no idea how long the assigned projects would actually take. This guy is an accountant, and has no business managing IT people. On any typical day this guy would had my knight a project and give him a deadline of 4 hours out. My knight would look the project over and determine that it needed closer to 8 or 10 hours of work and he'd approach the boss with this new information. The boss seemed incapable of understanding why or how the project could possibly take longer than he had budgeted for it, and would stick to his deadline expectations. My knight tried to educate the guy... the other IT people told him they had been trying for "years" and wished him a ton of luck on getting the boss to listen. On top of that, he expected my knight to stay late with about 5 minutes notice. Um.. NO. If my knight is going to work overtime, he needs more notice than that. We have kids, and we usually have kid activities going on in the evenings (even if those activities are nothing more than a planned board game with the kids).  After 2 weeks it became obvious that this particular contract would not work for us. So, my knight scattered his resume all over the country. We'd been talking off and on for over a year about leaving our previous state. I decided it was time to get serious about a nationwide job search.

My knight landed his dream job! We ended up moving almost 1000 miles from where we used to live. It's been a good move.. the kids love it here, the dogs seem to be happy, and the cats recovered from their almost 20 hours trapped in large wire animal crates fairly well. Only one item got broken during the move, (granted it was my washer!), and nothing got forgotten. You can't ask for much more than that.

I love it here.. we were able to buy a house on some acreage, so I can grow herbs, veggies and fruit. We're buying some chickens, and maybe next year we'll add a few goats to our clan.

As for flr... somehow the move rebooted my knight's attitude. It's been 3 weeks since we got the keys to our new house, and in that time my knight has been.... amazing. He is paying special attention to our flr rules, and he's been extra attentive to me. There has been no arguing, no complaining, no "accidental on-purpose" orgasms and no missed list items.

I'm not sure what caused the change in him... and I'm not sure I should ask him.. but he seems more......."himself" since the move.  I hope it lasts.
